In this section we will, over time, be bringing you back to relive some of the many great events we have shared in St. Colman's. We hope you enjoy your visit. Please check back regularly to see what new galleries we have added.

1. Christmas Constructions

One of the traditional highlights of being in 6th Class is the opportunity to make the Christmas Constructions. The children work in pairs or small groups over a three week period from the beginning of December. The constructions are then displayed for all the classes to visit and enjoy during the week of the holidays.

Santa and his Elf also visit the boys and girls every year to great excitement. As the boys and girls are all on the Good List, they receive presents from Santa.

2. School Tours

Each year in May or June, our school tours take place. Some years we bring all classes to the same venue on the same day. On other occasions the Junior classes and Senior classes go to different venues depending on suitability. It is obviously a major highlight for the children.

Tours over the years have included, among others, the Zoo, Adventure World in University of Limerick, Dunmore East, Croke Park, Viking Splash, Tayto Park and Funtasia.

3. Christmas Concert

Without a doubt the highlight of the school year is the Christmas Concert. The concert takes place over two days, normally the Friday of the second week of December for Junior Infants to 2nd class and the following Tuesday for 3rd to 6th class. The teachers go beyond the call of duty in producing high quality musicals and plays where the children come into their own, enjoying themselves and displaying their talents in acting, singing and dancing. The whole school community celebrates these wonderful two days with the Parents’ Association and our Student Council looking after ‘Front of House’ affairs and the general body of parents and grandparents enthusiastically attending the concerts. Both concert are held during the school day. They are part of our school culture.

4. Níos Mó Ná Céad Bliain Ag Fás

A publication entitled ‘Education in Clara’ – Níos Mó Ná Céad Bliain ag Fás’ was written in 2010 to mark 100 years of education in Clara. Fittingly this book was written and compiled by Ms. Mairéad Fitzgerald. Having received her primary education in this school (1981-1989), Mairéad returned in 2004 to join the teaching staff.
